Thank You
I am pleased that at least 700 members decided I was a suitable candidate in our latest election, and I am please to have been elected on the Ordinary Committee of Management for our great Association. PASA has a rich history and has served members well for over 100 years. We are one of the oldest and strongest police unions in the nation and I am committed to ensure that stays the same during my term.
I have been inducted to the Committee and I am well and truly involved in matters concerning members. I have already represented PASA at official functions and look forward to meeting as many members as possible throughout my term.
I will periodically update members on my activities right here on this site.

MY KEY CONCERNS

Protecting Members’ Rights
Police do a high-risk job, and with that comes high stakes. Members need to know they have protections in place to advocate for their rights when their performance is criticised. A strong association, armed with the skill and acumen to support members in navigating policy and law, is essential to a committed workforce.

Sensible negotiation between relevant parties is key to influencing change and creating a less resistant pathway. When members see the pathway clearly, they are more likely to invest in the process to get there and contribute to an agile workforce.

It is one thing to say you support the membership, but that support needs to be backed up by systems that provide members with access to services and mechanisms to quickly respond to their needs. Many members do not know PASA has reporting portals and a wide delegate network they can engage with. This needs to change.

Member-Centric Focus
The focus should always be on each member’s value for their membership. All members should benefit from the Association’s work and services. This requires better engagement because PASA is the membership.
MY KEY PHILOSOPHIES
This quote has guided me for years. Human behaviour is predictable; how someone does anything is a predictor of how they will do everything. To change your ways begins with acknowledging how you do anything and focusing on habits that build better character traits. This ensures your best traits shine through effortlessly.
Coined by Simon Sinek, this philosophy embodies the importance of purpose. People buy into why you do something, not just what you do. I am committed to interpreting the “why” for the membership, so we have better engagement and are motivated to take action for better outcomes.
Training + Experience = Compliance, while Education + Experience = Wisdom. We need to focus on education and shared learning to continuously improve. Our members have an incredible collective brain trust that we must tap into, to build a guild that carries the torch from generation to generation.
It’s human nature to share your opinion quickly, but wisdom lies in understanding others first. This is the role of the committee: to understand the membership, our adversaries, our partners, and our community before proposing solutions or making decisions.
A growth mindset trumps contentment. If you think you’ve made it, you’ve already lost. Continuous improvement ensures we are prepared for future trends and contingencies. This is what I will bring to PASA.
I am here to listen, support, and work together to address your concerns.
